Sahasra Deepalankarana:

Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Swamy temple was celebrated with many dialy sevas and special poojas. Every day purohits and pundiths of temple will conduct special Sahara Deepalankarana Seva for Lord Balaji. The meaning of sahasra deepalankara is to light 1008 deepams and appease the lord to eradicate the darkness in human souls by showing the real path for devotion.

Sahasra Deepalankarana is one of the daily sevas performed for the mulavirat in Tirumala. It is the only daily seva which is performed outside the temple. Sahasra deepalankarana which means lighting of 1000 diyas to decorate the unjal mandapam. The seva is performed in the Kolimi Mantapam located on the south eastern corner of the Srivari temple. Sri Malayappa swami along with Sridevi and Bhudevi are taken out in procession where one thousand wick lamps are lit. The lord is seated in a unjal (swing) in the middle of the lamps and Annamayya Sankirtanas and vedic hymns are sung to the newly wed God and Goddesses. On occasions, group dance (typically from Karnataka, though not restricted) is also held. As a recent practice, after the Sahasra Deepalankarana seva, the Lord and his consorts are taken on a procession along the 4 streets surrounding the temple, before taking them inside the temple complex.

The ticket holders are given 2 small laddus for this seva. At the end of this seva, the ticket holders are permitted to have the darshan of the main deity in the sanctum sanctorum. The duration of the seva is 20–30 minutes.

  • First of all, visit the official website of TTD, under online services tab select SEVA.
  • Now Login to the website using your login credentials.
  • Now click on options select seva then select srivari seva Tirumala
  • Select the seva Sahasra Deepalankarana Seva.
  • Check the availability of tickets in the required date.
  • Available dates will be shown in green colour, red colour indicates that the quota is full and blue indicates quota not released.
  • Now choose the month and date one by one. The available dates will show the number of tickets which are available to book.
  • Now enter number of persons and select proceed. As for now the TTD website allows to book 2 tickets per one user id.
  • Fill the mandatory pilgrim details such as name, Age, gender and ID proof. Provide Aadhar or any other proof they carry for darshan.
  • Now proceed for the payment of booked darshan tickets. You can use the internet Banking, Debit Card, Credit Card etc for payment.
  • Once the payment is done, an email will be sent will be sent to the registered email of the pilgrims confirming the payment and the tickets will be available to print. You can also find the booked tickets in booking history tab for downloading in the future.

Devotees need to know that current booking of sahasra deepalankaran seva in Tirumala is very easy. Every day more than 180 to 300 tickets are allotted for devotees who visit the vijaya bank counter at CRO (Central Reception office). Sometimes till 4:00 PM on the same day tickets are sold if available.

TTD kalyanamandapams also have booking counters to issue the tickets two months in advance. Visit nearest kalyanamandapam counter for checking availability and book the tickets.
